F or today’s blog, I thought it would be fun to suggest some movies. I love movies; they can be a great source of inspiration, not to mention the entertainment they can provide. I especially enjoy finding a movie that speaks to me as an entrepreneur.

Lots of movies have featured companies, businesses, and entrepreneurs, but these five are a nice blend of entertainment and inspiration. Make sure you pay attention to the movies’ ratings before you decided to share them with the younger entrepreneurs in your family.

1. Office Space

Writer and Director Mike Judge might be better known as the brainchild behind Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill, but Office Space is a small slice of genius.

If you work in an office, you’ll see some familiar frustrations. If you run a company, watch this movie as a lesson on what not to do!

2. The Pursuit of Happyness

Will Smith is one of the best actors of his generation when he’s given the right material, and in this film, he shines.

The Pursuit of Happyness is the story of Chris Gardner, who went from being a homeless father of a young son to a successful businessman and motivational speaker.

You’ll laugh and you’ll cry, but mostly, you’ll be inspired.

3. Joy

Jennifer Lawrence shines as Joy Mangano, the self-made millionaire, and inventor who found success selling mops on the Home Shopping Network.

Through her determination, Joy builds a business from nothing but her hustle and a great idea. Robert DeNiro and Bradley Cooper co-star with Lawrence, reuniting the cast of another great (but not a movie for business) film, Silver Linings Playbook.

4. The Devil Wears Prada

Like Office Space, The Devil Wears Prada is a primer on how not to behave in business. Meryl Streep stars as Miranda Priestly, the cold, driven editor-in-chief of the fictional Runway magazine. Anne Hathaway plays Streep’s fresh-out-of-college assistant.

The film will have you wondering about the price you might be willing to pay for success, and reflecting upon the way personal lives are affected by career ambitions.

5. Any Given Sunday

Finally, one of the most interesting movies about football ever made. Oliver Stone directs Any Given Sunday, with an exciting ensemble cast that includes Jamie Foxx, Al Pacino, and Cameron Diaz.

The film follows a fictional football league, including the action on and off the field. In a movie with a lot of cool moments, Al Pacino’s inspirational speech (which has some surly language, so be warned) is one of the highlights.
