I discuss faith a lot in Believe in More, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that I’d like to discuss it here in the blog from time to time, too. For me, faith is about understanding that I am part of a bigger plan. Though I don’t always know the details of that plan, my faith guides me to focus on doing the right things and let the plan play out.

If you’re like me—always restless, always looking for that next thing!—then you understand how much of a challenge this can be. Entire industries have been built around helping people find patience. Helping people relax. Promoting a sense of calm.

Stillness is Essential

Total Life Changes is a part of that industry, too; since we believe in helping people reach their goals, we’re constantly developing new products based on our customers’ needs. That’s what led to the creation of our Total Life Essentials line of essential oils. These aromatherapy products can energize your mind, excite the body, spark creativity, or help you bring things down and find to peace, quiet, and centering that many of us crave after a long day.

It’s tough to find that calm place at the end of the day when the world’s worries are heavy on your mind. I think our essential oils can help—I know they help me—but I also turn to my faith when worry takes too much space in my thinking.

I try to remember Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God.” What an incredibly direct piece of advice. It tells me to lean into my faith and be confident that someone else is in control.

There isn’t enough stillness in most of our lives. Room for reflection. A chance to take a breath and appreciate something, or really consider consequences or just let stress slip away.

The Benefits of Being Still

There are lots of good reasons to practice stillness. We learn about ourselves when we take the time to be quiet. It recharges our energy reserves. It is soothing.

For me, it’s a chance to remember that plan I’m a part of, that everything happens for a reason, and that it’s ok if I’m not always sure what that reason is. It’ll all be what it’s supposed to be.

I’d like to challenge everyone to make time for stillness today, and every day, whether you’re a person who shares my faith or not. Enjoy a quiet mind freed from stress for fifteen minutes. The worries of the world will wait.

I promise.
